The Mitchell River and surrounds contains several areas of Closed and Regulated waters. These areas are regularly monitored and patrolled by DPI Fisheries Officers. Fines Apply.

​South Mitchell River (and waterways joining it): between F#B signs near opposite banks of the river and F#B signs where it joins Surprise Creek.

THIS AREA IS CLOSED TO ALL FORMS OF FISHING YEAR ROUND.

 

Topsy Creek: Gillnet Free Zone (Cast nets from shore allowed).

 

Mitchell River: Total Ban on possessing or using any nets for taking fish for trade or commerce.
